Collagen is the major structural protein in the articular cartilage. The collagen in articular cartilage consists of 85 to 90% of collagen type II. Undenatured type II collagen has a triple structure of linked collagen fibers.

Denatured type II collagen is important for the formation of collagen which is important for the bone is better absorbed than other supplements with collagen.
